Sharing stories of customers, merchants, suppliers, and growers. In other words, our Market family...

Milton Melendez first came to the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market as a representative with the Delaware Department of Agriculture (DDA) along with DDA Secretary, Ed Kee, and a delegation from Chile. Since Milton is fluent in Spanish, he served as the interpreter.
He was blown away when he saw the Market and knew he had to share it with his wife and three boys, ages 3, 6 and 8.
"All five of us bundle up in our winter gear and bring along our wheeled wagon to carry our purchases," he says. "We usually look for something specific, but have bought other produce on the spur of the moment when we found a good deal. Our last visit was a few weeks ago when we went looking for tomatoes and oranges. We found exactly what we were looking for and even came out with a case of corn too!
When we got home, we went quick to work to make several batches of fresh orange juice with our juicer and to cut, cook, and puree the many pounds of tomatoes we purchased. We like to freeze the tomato sauce we make and use throughout the winter for homemade soups and sauces. It's nice to know we are serving up something we made fresh and healthy to ourselves and family. We will be back for sure!"
